About
Three Generations.
The Same Values.
Our story began long before MAGRIMAR, aboard a tugboat in the Port of Livorno, where a four-year-old boy first learned what it means to build something that lasts.
MAGRIMAR is a boutique maritime consultancy founded by people who have not only sold yachts and ships but built them.
There is a unique satisfaction that only those who have worked in a shipyard truly understand: the moment when a hull touches the water for the very first time. Months of work, hundreds of decisions and thousands of hours of craftsmanship come together in that single launch. Nothing in trading compares with the experience of creating something from the ground up.
MAGRIMAR was born from that feeling, not from a business strategy, but from the desire to continue building by bringing the same craftsmanship, responsibility and attention to detail into the way we advise clients purchasing or commissioning a yacht.
Every yacht we have worked on tells a unique story: an owner with a vision, a shipyard with its own expertise, negotiations, construction and delivery. We have been present at every stage of that journey.
Today, MAGRIMAR places more than forty years of shipbuilding and project management experience at the service of those who wish to own exceptional yachts, applying the same care we would devote to building one for ourselves.

Our Story
Our Origins · Port of Livorno
The Tugboat Giuseppe Magri
Everything began with Umberto Magri, Maurizio’s grandfather. The Giuseppe Magri was a working tug operating in the Port of Livorno.
Maurizio was only four years old when his grandfather first took him aboard. It was not simply a visit; it became years of weekends spent at sea, learning what navigation truly means, understanding what distinguishes a well-built vessel from an ordinary one, and appreciating the value of craftsmanship and professional integrity.
That quiet education, passed down naturally rather than through words, laid the foundations for everything that followed.
Family · Livorno
Enzo Magri and the Culture of Work
Maurizio’s father, Enzo Magri, owned a shipping agency in Livorno. Through discipline, consistency and professional excellence, he built a distinguished career and was awarded first the title of Knight and later Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic by the President of the Republic.
While attending the Nautical Technical Institute, Maurizio worked alongside his father, not out of obligation, but out of curiosity and the desire to learn. This dual education, combining his grandfather’s practical maritime experience with his father’s commercial discipline, shaped the perspective that has guided his entire career: seeing the industry both through the eyes of a shipbuilder and those of an entrepreneur.
Education · Livorno · Texas
Italian Naval Academy & Texas A&M University
The Italian Naval Academy in Livorno provided Maurizio with technical discipline and rigorous analytical thinking.
Texas A&M University – Maritime Business Administration, added a strategic and commercial perspective, enabling him to understand international markets, structure complex transactions and operate on a global scale.
Upon completing his studies, Maurizio began his professional career as a licensed shipbroker, registered with the Chamber of Commerce of Livorno in 1985. At that stage, the yacht industry was not yet his primary focus, but his understanding of the maritime world from technical, legal and commercial perspectives was already comprehensive.
Shipping
Established in 1984, the company has built extensive experience in the maritime and shipping industry, operating within an international shipping group with holding headquarters in Switzerland, a main office in Italy, 12 Italian branches, and 8 overseas offices located in the USA, South America, and the Middle/Far East.
Over the years, the company has developed strong expertise in dry cargo shipping, providing a wide range of maritime services including ship and cargo brokerage, time charter operations, and commercial management of bulk carrier fleets.
The company has successfully managed time charter activities for bulk carriers ranging from 65,000 DWT (Panamax) to 125,000 DWT (Capesize), including vessels specifically dedicated to the transportation of coal for major European and American industrial clients.
With extensive knowledge of international commodity flows, the company has operated both under long-term contractual agreements and in the competitive spot market through tramp shipping services, managing complex cargo logistics and global maritime operations.
The company has also gained direct ship-owning experience through the management and ownership of four handy-size bulk carriers with an average capacity of 28,000 DWT, two reefer vessels operating between Argentina and Europe, and six offshore supply vessels.
1994 · Viareggio
CBI Navi – The First Superyacht Shipyard
Even then, Viareggio was recognised as the Italian capital of luxury yacht building.
In 1994 Maurizio joined a small shipyard specialising in steel and aluminium motor yachts. He quickly became Chief Executive Officer and shareholder, rebranding the company as CBI NAVI and launching the production of motor yachts ranging from 24 to 52 metres, bringing with him the expertise gained throughout his years in commercial shipping.
2005 – 2025
Admiral. Tecnomar. Wider.
Maurizio’s career continued with some of Italy’s most prestigious luxury yacht builders.
Working with Admiral, Tecnomar and Wider, he developed commercial strategies, strengthened brand positioning and concluded complex international sales transactions.
Over three decades, his profile evolved beyond that of a shipbuilder into that of a professional equally at ease in the shipyard and at the negotiating table, someone capable of interpreting a construction contract with practical understanding rather than theoretical knowledge, and evaluating the quality of a yacht while it is still under construction.
The results speak for themselves:
- 89 vessels designed, built and delivered
- More than 4,000 metres of vessels constructed
- 36,670 GRT delivered
- Superyachts up to 72 metres
- Commercial vessels
- Offshore oil & gas support vessels
- Defence vessels
A level of practical shipbuilding expertise that is exceptionally rare within today’s yacht consultancy market.

MAGRIMAR
“We are not simply brokers negotiating between buyer and seller. We are shipbuilders who place decades of technical expertise and industry authority at the service of our clients.”
MAGRIMAR protects your interests with the perspective of professionals who have spent a lifetime inside shipyards.
Maurizio Magri – Founder & Chairman
Maurizio Magri
Founder & Chairman
Maurizio Magri has spent more than forty years building and selling ships.
He has worked inside shipyards, supervised the construction of 89 vessels, learned to recognise quality before it becomes visible, and to identify problems long before they become expensive to be solved.
Today he brings that same expertise to independent consultancy, not as someone who has studied the industry, but as someone who has lived every aspect of it, from the shipyards of Viareggio to international negotiations, from signing construction contracts to delivering 72-metre superyachts.
For yacht owners, the advantage is tangible: having an advisor who knows every participant in the industry, shipyards, naval architects, suppliers and brokers, not simply as contacts, but as professionals with whom he has negotiated and collaborated for decades.
Someone who has nothing to gain from a transaction itself, and everything to lose by betraying a client’s trust.
